Join us in Worship at Old Pine where we praise God and delve into the sacred story. We gather at the font and table and seek to serve our neighbor.
On Thursday, October 9th at 6pm, Old Pine will host a dinner and performance with the Afrizo Singing Group from Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya. Afrizo is on their U.S. tour to raise scholarship money for students to attend Daystar, which works to educate servant-leaders to improve the lives of people througout Africa. Please save the date and plan to bring food for our potluck dinner. We are also in need of some host families tohosue pairs of Afrizo members overnight on Thursday, October 9th. Please contact if you would like more informaiton or if you can be a host.
If you are interested in joining the fellowship and ministry of the Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church, you are warmly invited to be part of this fall's Membership Exploration Group. The initial get-together of those interested in membership will be Sunday, October 26th immediately following worship and Coffee/Fellowship Time. (Please note the date change from the original October 12th.) Childcare and lunch always provided! To join or to get more information, please email or call 215-925-8051.
One of the most important aspects of our Christian faith is the mission work we perform. Jesus specifically calls us to "feed the hungry, clothe the naked, welcome the stranger, visit those who are in prison."
But how do we do that? What exactly is the imperative to help others and what should our motivation be? Should we give to every person who asks for money in the street? Should we donate to every charity that asks? What about our careers? What about the way we budget our finances? What about the environment?
To help us explore these challenging questions, Pastor Ferris will be teaching an adult education class on Mission. We had our first meeting on Sunday, Sept. 21st after the morning worship service and will continue on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Childcare and a light lunch will be provided. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn and discuss ideas about mission in both our personal lives and our life as a congregation. We hope you'll join us!
